New Import Controls for Animal Products from July 2022

Following the pre-notification via IPAFFS or PEACH introduced earlier this year, there will be another set of changes from July 2022 whereby Animal Products imported into the UK from the EU will be subject to an Export Health Certificate (EHC), Documentation, ID and Physical Checks.

Summary of Changes

From July 1st 2022:

  • Animal Products will need to enter GB via a border control post designated to receive the goods.
  • An EHC will be necessary for all meat products and all remaining regulated animal by-products, which will be subject to documentary, ID and physical checks.

From September 1st 2022:

  • An EHC will be necessary for all Dairy products, which will be subject to documentary, ID and physical checks.

From November 1st 2022:

  • An EHC will be necessary for all remaining regulated products of animal origin including fish and most composites, which will be subject to documentary, ID and physical checks.
